Spirits Are People Too
In the paranormal community, I have been reading up on articles such as documentation of research, investigation protocols and equipment modifications for EVP work. Lately I have been researching the use of certain equipment and/or equipment modifications for doing 'real time' EVP work. In other words, instead of hearing what we have captured on audio only after we have done the recordings, these experiments with equipment are being toted as allowing us to actually hear the EVPS as we are recording them.
This morning I was listening to Beyond Reality Radio with Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson. They were discussing the use of such equipment on the show and then had a discussion about whether investigators should be delving in so deep as to be able to actually communicate in real time with spirits. There were some people who called into the show and gave their opinions and it became an in-depth chat that was certainly interesting to listen to.
Someone mentioned that using such devices could be compared to the use of a Ouija board- the board game which many have said to have encountered negatives spirits coming through when played. Notice the word 'played' here. Most people who use Ouija boards use them in the sense of playing a board game, which is what was in mind when it was created. Most people using them usually aren't paranormal investigators who are doing research. If you use a Ouija board you are in fact saying to the spirit world, "Here I am!" Many lower-level spirits will definitely take notice and that is when the problems arise. If someone has spiritual knowledge and has only the highest and best intents when using it coupled with using various protection methods, then that is another story. Most people aren't evolved enough to take the precautions necessary though.
In my view, whether we are investigators of the paranormal, or the average person trying to communicate with their deceased relatives and loved ones, the key here is respect. Spirits are just people without bodies. They have crossed over from the living earth world to the spirit world and they need to be treated with respect, whether we are walking through cemeteries, old buildings, using cameras to try to capture them on film, using Ouija boards or audio devices to capture EVPS. The main thing to remember is that while we are trying to communicate with spirits, they can and do see us, hear us and feel us. I think it is wonderful that the paranormal community has such great researchers who are taking the time to modify and test out equipment. This is what it's about! So we need to remain open to everything, as long as we remember that spirits are people too…and should be treated as such. |
